Uploading a logo with a transparent background to your Connect brand kit could
fill the transparent areas with solid black. It showed up as an ugly black
rectangle behind the logo on public Connect pages — worst of all on dark
templates, where it was impossible to miss.
What’s Fixed
- Transparent PNG (and WebP) logos now keep their transparency all the way
through upload. Behind the scenes, the image was being quietly re-encoded to
a format that can’t store transparency, which filled it in with black. - This applied to larger logos in particular, and to any logo whose filename
extension didn’t match its actual format — for example a PNG saved as
logo.jpg. Both now work correctly.
If your logo is already showing a black background, re-upload it and it will
come through correctly. The original transparency couldn’t be recovered from
the stored copy, so a re-upload is needed.
What’s New
You can now upload two logos in your brand kit:
- Horizontal logo — your usual wide lockup, used in page headers, footers
and CMA covers. - Square logo / icon mark — used where the space is a badge rather than a
banner: your agent card, and your site’s browser-tab icon.
The square slot is optional. If you skip it, your horizontal logo is used
everywhere exactly as before, so nothing changes unless you want it to. Team
admins can set both on team branding too.
Both logo slots now get the same crop-and-zoom step your profile photo has
always had, so you can trim dead space around a mark without leaving the
browser:
- The horizontal slot opens on your logo’s own shape, so by default you’re
only trimming — with 4:1, 3:1, 2:1 and 1:1 available if you want to reframe. - The square slot crops to 1:1, which is what both its placements render.
- Use original uploads the file untouched if it’s already framed how you
want it.
The crop preview sits on a checkerboard so transparent areas are visible while
you work, and a transparent logo stays transparent through the crop.
As a bonus, Connect sites now show your logo as the browser-tab icon instead
of a generic default.
